Code of Ethics

EWPA Members Code of Ethics

The members of the Elevating Work Platform Association of New Zealand (EWPA) share a common commitment through this statement of ethical practices to promote the highest possible standards of professional conduct. Members shall abide by the laws of New Zealand and elsewhere, demonstrating ethical behaviour in all aspects of their work, proven ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, other members and those in the industry.

The EWPA will proactively assist all Members to comply with the Code of Ethics and will provide guidance where necessary.

All members of EWPA undertake the following:

Legislation and Compliance

EWPA Members will ensure that all business practices:

  • Comply with the Industry Good Practice Guidelines applicable to their business operation.
  • Have quality management systems to ensure the safe efficient and stable operation of their business, maintenance programs, processes and checks and other systems as necessary.
  • Shall have sufficient liquidity to meet their financial obligations.
  • Maintain the highest level of safety for all products, business, services, staff & customers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of industry standards and safe practices.

Have adequate public and, or, liability insurance, or an equivalent insurance.

  • Comply with all relevant laws, codes, standards, regulations, and judicial or quasi-judicial decisions.
  • To act at all times as a responsible ambassador for the Association

Employees

EWPA Members must provide a safe workplace where employees are compensated correctly, treated fairly and with respect at all times.

Members will ensure sufficient and appropriate training is provided to all employees so that they can undertake their designated tasks safely and efficiently.

Members shall never permit workplace bullying, harassment or any form of positive or negative discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation or any other factor.

Customers

EWPA Members must maintain the highest standards of business, professional and personal conduct when dealing with customers and members of the public and shall act respectfully and courteous at all times.

Members will ensure all equipment is compliant and safe to use for the task it was designed and shall provide sufficient information and/or training to customers to enable it to be used for the designated task.

Members shall never misrepresent products or services through misleading statements, false advertising or incomplete information.

Suppliers and Sub-contractors

EWPA Members must maintain the highest standards of business, professional and personal conduct when dealing with suppliers and subcontractors and shall pay for all goods and services on agreed terms.

Members shall respect the proprietary and/or confidential nature of information provided by suppliers and shall not use or pass on any proprietary or confidential information or any associated intellectual property to any other party without prior approval.

Dealing with other EWPA Members

At all times EWPA Members shall never collude with competitors or manipulate pricing to customers or act in any anti-competitor manner.

Transactions between EWPA Members shall be treated the same as Suppliers and Sub-Contractors and shall be conducted in a timely professional manner.

Members shall not directly or proactively poach employees from another Member company.

Members shall not make critical statements concerning the ethical or professional conduct of any other EWPA Member companies and shall, in the first instance, refer any non-compliance or concerns to the EWPA Executive.

To never knowingly infringe any other parties’ intellectual property rights and if any innocent breach occurs then to address and rectify any such breach immediately.

The Environment & Sustainability

EWPA Members shall develop and maintain sustainable practices that minimise their direct and indirect impact on the environment. Members shall work towards sustainable practices that reduce the consumption of natural resources and shall disposal of all waste products in a sustainable manner.

Association

To support the Association by taking an active role in EWPA activities and promoting the Association to the industry.

EWPA ‘Code of Ethics’ is a guideline and does not represent the entire scope of good conduct and ethical behaviour. Acceptance of and adherence to this Code is a condition of membership.

If a breach of the Constitution or Code of Ethics becomes known to the Board, it shall have power to act of its own volition as defined in 24 of the Elevating Work Platform Association of New Zealand Constitution, even if no complaint has been received. The Board’s decision is final.

Public

EWPA Members shall strive to make a positive contribution to their local communities.

To protect the public against fraud and unfair trade practices.
To present or supply products and services honestly without misrepresentation. 
To provide proper, fair and reasonable service to customers including but not limited to after sales service. 
To make a full and frank disclosure to customers of all material terms of any agreement with them.
Promote the industry as a viable career path to help attract new people into the industry.
