Kenny Marshall | President

Kenny has been involved in the EWPA since March 2011 and currently serves as President since February 2022. Originally from Scotland UK, Kenny is City & Guilds qualified in Integrated Plant Mechanics, HND Automotive Management with Technology (NZ Level 6) and additionally NZQA Occupational Health & Safety Management.

Kenny has over 20 years’ experience in the Plant & Construction industry in both UK & NZ, having worked with many of the market leaders in every facet of the business.

On arrival in NZ, Kenny joined Hirequip initially as a Workshop Mechanic and became the Regional Workshop Manager for the Northern Region. He then changed industries and was employed by Asplundh NZ as their Compliance/Fleet Manager NZ, which demonstrates his transferrable skills where he can utilise his qualifications and experience in another specialised field. After 4 years he moved to Franklin Trees as their Safety & Operations Manager and has recently moved back into the Service industry with Crown Equipment Limited as their National HSE Manager.

Steve Boyde | Board Member

Steve is Taranaki based and began his career in automotive engineering. Early on he transitioned into heavy machinery and hydraulic engineering where he has now had over 40 years’ experience. He has a broad range of skills and advice which spans across multiple disciplines. Steve has primarily been in workshop management roles for the past 30 years. At present, Steve is the Technical Services Manager, shareholder, and director of EHL Group.

EHL is involved in a wide range of engineering and project-based solutions for customers. EHL deals with customers both locally and globally requiring innovative project solutions. In Steve’s 14 years at EHL the company has been involved in the servicing, certification, and rebuild of Elevated Work Platforms. One of Steve’s goals is to help develop a sound and level playing field for the repair and certification of EWP’s. Steve has always felt that he has been proactive in support of the association and is keen to provide guidance to help set the direction going forward.

Outside of work, Steve has a keen interest in a range of motorsport and is an active racer and Race Official.

Dean van Buuren | Board Member


Dean completed his Trade Cert in Fitting & Welding and then travelled overseas living and working in Canada for 1 year. On his return he completed an advanced trade cert and another trade in Fitting Turning Machining then embarked on further tertiary study towards a NZ certificate in Mechanical Engineering. Dean was then employed as a Polytechnic Tutor where he worked for 8 years as a Tutor in Engineering, Business, Fashion and Computing but predominantly in engineering pre trade training, trade cert, advanced trade and NZCE training. During Dean's time in the tertiary sector he was approached to setup a company and carry out welding inspection and steel detailing on projects such as the AMI stadium in Wellington and Horncastle Stadium in Christchurch. The Company now incorporates 3 separate entities under the DE Group with around 30 staff engaged in Consulting Engineering, Equipment inspections (including EWP’s) and calibration and compliance of live line and high voltage equipment with 5 branches located in both the North and South Islands.  Dean is a senior certified welding inspector and held CBIP EWP levels 1, 2 & 3.

Dean hopes to offer his experience in training and learning, welder qualifications and the inspection industries to assist the EWPA and its members to increase safety and skills and provide support to the Registered Inspector Program.

Jonno Tulitt | Board Member

Jonno started his career in the Royal New Zealand Airforce as a teenager, training and qualifying as an Armament technician. He has continued to develop his operational and engineering skills throughout his working life. Following the RNZAF, Jonno changed industries to the rail sector, first in London, as an operations and depot Manager and then returning to New Zealand to manage rail operations in both Auckland and Wellington. Presently Jonno is the Managing Director of Snorkel New Zealand, running the New Zealand business as part of the Ahern Family of businesses.

Jonno is keen to share his knowledge of operations, engineering, and safety-critical work environments to further complement the EWPA’s board moving forward.

Outside of work, Jonno lives on a small farm in the Horowhenua. His passions are his family, new technology, and restoring his project car.

Jonno joined the EWPA board in late 2023 as a board member.

Andrew Jensen | Board Member

Andrew is currently General Manager at Access Specialties.  Previously, he was the Hub Manager for Hirepool in Auckland for over 10 years. He has worked closely with Access during this time, including the amalgamation of the Hirepool and Hirequip business units during the time of the two companies merger. He recently lead the team in setting up the operation of the Heavy Hire and Access Branch in Silverdale. During his time, Andrew has been involved in some of Auckland’s largest projects and their complexities such as the Waterview tunnel construction, many of the inner city vertical builds, apartments, commercial, infrastructure and industrial projects. He has also been able to use his experience to ensure that from the smallest customer through to the largest projects, that all customers get the appropriate equipment that meet the customer’s and statutory requirements every time.

Prior to Hirepool, he was a Constable in the NZ Police in various roles throughout Auckland for 10 years. Skills he learnt from this have helped pave his current career, including process disciplines, formal investigations, people management and conflict resolution, to name a few.

Andrew Lives in the Gulf Harbour area in Auckland with his wife and 3 boys. He likes to go fishing when he can and be involved in sport where ever he can, mainly watching his boys play now.
